Game Designer: Proposed the Idea of a cooperative Cooking Game. Developed core concepts of the game like the usage of ingredient, station and menu cards.
Artist: Developed Menu Cards, Station Cards, an Ingredient Cards

Ready, Set, Cook! is a fast-paced, cooperative party game where players race to wash, grill, and plate ingredients for a picky food critic—Pierre Pickle—before the timer runs out!

GAME DESIGN

Proposed the idea of a cooperative cooking game, where players work together to cook dishes and present it to a Judge

One of the problems I solved was that we needed a way for the player to "cook" their food. I proposed the use of station cards that the player could use by saying certain phrases.

How To Play

Goal

All chefs work together in real-time to prepare and correctly plate the ingredients so that Pierre Pickle’s order can be served!
Note: There are no turns—everyone plays at the same time.

Equipment

  • Countdown timer (a phone timer works great)

  • 6 Menu Cards

  • 27 Ingredient Cards

  • 3 Food Preparation Station Cards

Setup for 4 Players

  1. Choose one player to be Pierre Pickle, the food critic. The remaining players are chefs at the Food Palace.

  2. Deal one Menu Card face-down to Pierre Pickle.

  3. Lay out the 3 Food Preparation Station Cards (Wash, Grill, Plating) face-up—one in front of each chef. Each chef is responsible for managing that station.

  4. Set the countdown timer to 2 minutes.

Start of the Game

  1. Start the timer.

  2. Pierre Pickle flips over the Menu Card for all chefs to see.

  3. Pierre deals out all Ingredient Cards evenly to the chefs.

  4. Chefs must now work together using the menu information to move Ingredient Cards—in the correct order—through the preparation stations: Wash → Grill → Plating.

  5. Each Ingredient Card shows which station it must go to first.

  6. Some stations require chefs to say or sing a special phrase to complete the station’s action!

Prepare the Food!

  • Pass Ingredient Cards to the chef managing the appropriate station.

  • To “prepare” an ingredient, the station’s chef must say or sing the phrase written on the card (if there is one).

  • After saying the phrase, flip the Ingredient Card over and pass it to the next station.

Oops! Don’t Be Too Quick!

  • If an ingredient is prepared out of order (e.g., the phrase is said or it's placed on the Plating station too early), it must be set aside.

  • When that ingredient is actually needed, it can be passed to the correct station. The station’s chef must repeat the phrase again before continuing.

Game Ends

The game ends when:

  • The timer runs out, or

  • Pierre Pickle declares that the order is complete and correct (all Ingredient Cards are stacked bottom to top on the Plating Station in the correct order).

Is Pierre Pickle Happy With the Order?

If all Ingredient Cards are on the Plating Station before the timer ends, Pierre will check to see if the order is correct.
A correct order has all the listed ingredients from the Menu Card, stacked in the correct order from bottom to top.

Play Again?

Choose a new Pierre Pickle, rotate stations, and play again to help all chefs gain experience in washing, grilling, and plating at the Food Palace!
